This past Saturday, I satisfied my curiosity and finally was able to fly onboard American’s Airbus-321 Transcon equipment. I must say it blew me away! AA flies this aircraft on their JFK/LAX and JFK/SFO route. With the exception of their 787-Dreamliner aircraft, I have never experienced stepping on board a plane and feeling relaxed and comfortable while walking to my seat. No funny weird odor and this one was spotless!
The A321 has 3 cabins; First, Business and Economy (with Main Cabin Extra seating). First Class is comprised of 5 rows of single seats, all 180 degree flat-bed capable. Business class (where I was seated) is also 5 rows of 2×2 seats, all 180 degree flat-bed capable as well. There is a menu offering a choice of appetizer, 2 entrees and dessert. Super comfy seats (almost felt like a firm memory foam) with a large blanket and pillow (in photo).
Economy Class offers a total of only 12 rows of 3×3 seating, the first 6 rows are Main Cabin Extra with additional legroom, seatback monitors and power outlets at each seat.
If available, I’d choose Main Cabin Extra whenever possible as it is definitely worth the extra charge of approximately $89.00 to $94.00 per seat.
Happy Flying,
Russ
