We are a company of lodges and explorations, present in the most remote corners of South America with the purpose of deeply understanding each territory and thus promoting its conservation and care.

WHY EXPLORA

Exploration has been part of humankind’s nature since the dawn of time. And part of ours ever since we set off, over 30 years ago. Our deep-rooted network in the most secluded and astonishing territories on Earth enable us to conserve the world’s rarest natural beauties – by exploring them. This is why we propose a new kind of journey, where everything is taken care of: accommodation, transportation, meals and beverages. And of course, all explorations in the world’s most fascinating locations.

Our Purpose

Elevated Cuisine

Explora is honored to partner with some of the top chefs in South America and the world. The gastronomic experience in Explora in the Sacred Valley of the Incas and at Explora Atacama was developed exclusively by the renowned Peruvian chef Virgilio Martínez, owner of restaurant Central in Lima, the world’s number one restaurant in the world, according to The World’s Best Restaurants 2023 ranking. Cuisine at Explora lodge in Uyuni was developed exclusively by renowned Bolivia Chefs Mauricio Lopez and Sebastián Giménez, owners of the restaurant Ancestral in La Paz. A new gastronomic experience is coming soon to Explora Torres del Paine and Explora Patagonia National Park.

OUR LODGES

Explora operates luxury all-inclusive lodges in 7 remote & iconic destinations in South America: Patagonia (Chile & Argentina), Rapa Nui (Easter Island), Atacama Desert, Sacred Valley of Peru, & Uyuni, Bolivia.

TORRES DEL PAINE

Explora in Torres del Paine, in Southern Chilean, in Patagonia, was designed as the perfect haven for exploring the region’s wondrous geography and wildlife. Besides the favored location inside Torres del Paine National Park, this lodge’s architecture was planned in a way that interferes the least possible with its natural surroundings. It is an extension of the territory.

PATAGONIA NATIONAL PARK

Created by Douglas and Kristin Tompkins, the Patagonia National Park is an authentic hidden gem that exudes an intimate, peaceful and remote atmosphere. Here, nature flourishes in its most vibrant and thriving form, captivating visitors with pristine landscapes and extraordinary wildlife.

Located in the heart of Chile’s Carretera Austral, in Southern Chile, in Patagonia, our lodge – with just 13 rooms and a spa immersed in nature – offers a unique and exclusive experience of connection with nature.

In a barely explored sector with majestic mountains, Chile’s fastest-flowing rivers and lakes with unique colors and clarity, the variety and number of explorations is practically unlimited.

EL CHALTÉN

With views to the Electric Valley and the Marconi Glacier, Explora in El Chaltén, opened its doors on December 2021. 17 km away from El Chaltén –in the Argentinean Patagonia– the lodge is a base from where to explore a world-renowned destination by those who love nature and trekking.
The Explora lodge in El Chaltén has been strategically built within the Los Huemules Conservation Reserve, our long-standing conservation partners in the region.

Patagonia is not a country nor a place. It is a vast territory shared by Chile and Argentina, whose remarkable geography –shaped by mountains, glaciers, lakes, and rivers– offers countless exploration opportunities.

MACHU PICCHU & SACRED VALLEY

Explora in the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru was designed as a base from where to explore a remote and great destination: Cusco, Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Our lodge is within walking distance of the traditional village of Urquillos, a tiny settlement in which countless traditions are kept alive year-round by a lively and proud local community. It took us several years to finalize our exploration routes in the Sacred Valley, as we are committed to providing our travelers with the less traveled but most rewarding experiences, away from the madding crowd of traditional tourism without missing any of the destination’s most rewarding landscapes and cultural hubs alike.

ATACAMA

The Atacama Desert stretches from the rugged Pacific coast of northern Chile to the steep Andean slopes of southwestern Bolivia. Famous for its aridity, Atacama is proof of how life can flourish even in the harshest of conditions.

Our lodge in Atacama is located in the oasis of San Pedro de Atacama, Chile on the beautiful Ayllu de Larache, once inhabited by ancient Atacameño families. San Pedro is a beautiful adobe town surrounded by the desert’s most dramatic features: salt-flats, volcanoes, geysers, hot springs, windswept sand dunes and many others.

ATACAMA & UYUNI

From the deep silence of the terracotta mountains in the Atacama Desert in Chile to the endless white of the Uyuni Salt Flat in Bolivia: unravel two of the world’s most fascinating locations in the journey of a lifetime, traveling across one of the remotest regions on Earth with our itineraries from 6 nights.

Travesía Atacama-Uyuni is a privately guided journey meant for deep immersion in discoveries from destination to destination and everywhere in between. Cross the desert from Chile to Bolivia in a 4×4 vehicle, led by an expert Explora guide and a local driver. Our lodge in Atacama, along with our mountain lodges and the lodge at Uyuni’s Salt Flat –established in partnership with local families– are the bases from where we go out and explore, day after day, the unique landscapes and places of the Altiplano.

EASTER ISLAND

Rapa Nui (Easter Island) may be a tiny island stranded in the infinite Pacific Ocean, yet it’s safe to say that never has a single place puzzled the world as much as this one. A miniscule triangle born from the eruption of three volcanoes, the outmost border of the Polynesian triangle sits 2,180 miles off the South American continent and is surrounded by the clearest waters on the planet – the very definition of ‘remote’.

Rapa Nui was once the cradle of a unique and enigmatic culture that continues to endure today. The island’s language, music, and countless traditions are kept alive by its proud inhabitants, while the enormous carved stone Moai are tangible testimonies of its enigmatic past.
